Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the cut-on front facings.
  2. Stitch the center back seam and the back princess seams (Back to Side Back). Serge the seam allowances. Press the center back seam to the left and the princess seams towards the center.
  3. Stitch the front princess seams (Front to Side Front), serge and press towards the center.
  4. Stitch the side seams, serge and press towards the front.
  5. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, turn under the raw edge and topstitch 1 cm from the fold.
  6. Serge the edges of the front facings and the straight edges of the Tie Facings. Fold the front facing to the right side and pin. Place the Tie Facings on the straps, right sides together, and pin.
  7. Join the bias strips for the upper edge. Press all bias strips in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Place the strips on the right side of the top along the corresponding edges so that their ends extend onto the front facing and the Tie Facings. Stitch the Tie Facings, front facings and bias strips in place; trim the seam allowances, clip the curves and trim the strap corner diagonally close to the seam.
  8. Turn the straps right side out and turn the facings and bias strips to the wrong side. Baste the edges and press. Topstitch a presser-foot width from the edge along the front edges, neckline, ties and upper back edge.
  9. On each strap, form a pleat on the right side, pin and stitch along the fold.
  10. Work buttonholes on the right front and sew the buttons on the left front.
