Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the back center seam below the slit mark for the zipper closure. Press seam allowances open. Press seam allowances along the edges of the slit to the wrong side.
  2. Pin the zipper so that the teeth start at the marked line of the upper edge of the skirt. Stitch the zipper so that the teeth are not visible.
  3. Stitch the darts on the front and back panels, press dart depths towards the center line.
  4. Stitch the side seams.
  5. Trim the seam allowance along the lower edge of the skirt and finish the lower edge with an overlock or zigzag stitch. On the trim strip for fringe, finish one long edge and, at a distance of 1.5 cm from it, mark with basting stitches along the cross-grain line for aligning the lower edge of the skirt. Place the trim strip under the lower edge of the skirt, aligning it with the marked basting stitch line on the trim strip, and pin. Topstitch the lower edge of the skirt onto the trim strip, stitching along the upper edge of the overlock or zigzag stitch. Create fringe on the trim strip.
  6. On the lining pieces, stitch the darts and seams. Fold the lining with the skirt right sides together and baste to the upper edge of the skirt. Turn the lining up and topstitch to the seam allowances close to the seam. Turn the lining to the wrong side, fold under, and sew to the zipper tapes. Create a narrow hem along the bottom of the lining.
