This versatile long skirt offers a refined silhouette, perfect for:

  • Professional Settings: Ideal for office wear, business meetings, or professional presentations.
  • Smart Casual Outings: Perfect for sophisticated daytime events, brunches, or elevated everyday style.
  • Transitional Wardrobe: a stylish choice for moving effortlessly from day to evening engagements.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a contemporary long silhouette, falling with a straight to gently a-line drape.

Waist: a high-waisted design, meticulously finished with an internal facing for a clean and smooth waistband.

Front: Features a distinctive center front seam that opens into a deep slit, both beautifully accented with decorative double-needle topstitching.

Back: Includes a shaping center back seam, concealing an invisible zipper for a seamless closure.

Hem: a clean, straight hemline, matching the decorative double-needle topstitching of the front details for a cohesive finish.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires precision in constructing darts, applying an invisible zipper, attaching facings, and executing consistent topstitching, including mitered slit corners.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-weight woven fabrics with good drape and body to highlight the structured details and topstitching:

  • Twill fabrics (cotton, wool, or blends)
  • Gabardine
  • Medium-weight suiting fabrics
  • Linen and linen blends

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing for facings
  • Invisible zipper (length to be specified in pattern instructions)

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Front skirt half - 2 qty
    2. Back skirt half - 2 qty
    3. Front facing - 1 qty with fold
    4. Back facing - 2 qty
  • From fusible interfacing: facing pieces.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch darts, press dart excess towards center lines.
  2. Stitch front center seam, leaving the slit open at the bottom. Press seam allowances open, press slit allowances to the wrong side.
  3. Stitch back center seam, leaving the opening for the zipper at the top.
  4. Stitch side seams.
  5. Attach the zipper so that the teeth are not visible.
  6. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, finish front corners with an envelope fold. Topstitch the skirt along the front center seam and, without breaking the stitch, along the edges of the slit and the bottom edge at a distance of 3 cm with a twin needle.
  7. Stitch side seams on the facings. Place the facing and the skirt right sides together and stitch to the upper edge of the skirt. Trim seam allowances close to the stitching, turn to the facing and edgestitch. Turn the facing to the wrong side and sew to the dart depths and seam allowances. Fold under the ends of the facing and sew to the zipper tapes.
