Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: silk dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU ALSO NEED: a concealed zipper; fusible interfacing.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Back facing - 1 piece
    • Front facing - 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back facing - 1 piece
    • Front facing - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the facing pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the darts on the back and front pieces. Press the waist dart depths towards the center of the pieces, and the bust darts upwards.
  3. Stitch the center back seam, press allowances to the left side and overcast.
  4. Overcast the left side edges separately. Stitch the left side seam from the zipper mark downwards, press allowances open. Insert the zipper. Stitch the right side seam, press allowances towards the back and overcast.
  5. Cut 2 straps 4 cm wide and approximately equal to the length indicated on the front pattern piece. Press the strap piece lengthwise in half, right side out. Then unfold and press the raw edges towards the marked center line. Topstitch 0.1 cm from the edge. Put on the dress, adjust the strap length, and secure them to the garment.
  6. Stitch the right side edge of the facings, press allowances open. Overcast the lower edge. Place the facing on the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge and the upper back edge (straps are placed between the main garment and the facing). Topstitch the allowances to the facing 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Fold the facing to the inside, press. Fold under the side edges of the facing and sew to the zipper tape.
  7. Overcast the lower edge, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
