Buttoned Strap Pinafore Dress with Pockets

Introducing a charming pinafore dress pattern featuring a fitted bodice, a subtly flaring A-line skirt, wide buttoned straps, and stylish flap pockets.

When To Wear

This versatile pinafore dress is perfect for creating layered looks, making it suitable for:

  • Casual Everyday Wear: Ideal for comfortable and stylish daily outfits when layered over a basic top or blouse.
  • Transitional Seasons: Easily adapted for changing weather by pairing with various long-sleeved or short-sleeved tops.
  • Weekend Outings & Errands: A practical and chic choice for relaxed social gatherings or daily activities.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A flattering A-line silhouette, fitted through the bodice and gently flaring out from the waist to the hem.

Neckline: A classic scoop neckline frames the décolletage, designed for comfortable layering over other garments.

Shoulder Straps: Wide shoulder straps are secured with two decorative buttons each at the front bodice, adding a touch of retro charm.

Waistline: A defined horizontal seam at the natural waistline connects the bodice to the skirt, highlighted by prominent topstitching.

Pockets: Functional and stylish angled patch pockets with buttoned flaps are strategically placed on the lower front of the skirt.

Back: The back features a contoured yoke above vertical relief seams, ensuring a good fit and structured appearance.

Closure: An invisible zipper is neatly concealed in the left side seam for a smooth and uninterrupted finish.

Hem: The dress finishes with a straight hemline, hitting gracefully above the knee.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in constructing relief seams, inserting an invisible zipper, creating detailed flap pockets, and working with facings.
