Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing, a concealed zipper, 6 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back - 2 pieces
  • Front - 1 piece on fold
  • Cuff - 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing - 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing - 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Cuff - 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing - 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the neckline facings and cuffs.
2. Overlock the center back seam separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the hem, press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
3. Overlock the shoulder seams separately on each piece. Stitch the shoulder seams up to the mark, press seam allowances open. Topstitch the seam allowances along the slit 0.1 cm from the edge.
4. Stitch the side seams simultaneously with the sleeve seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
5. Stitch the shoulder seams of the neckline facings, overlock the outer edge. On the front pieces and front facing, make a slit along the marked line. Place the dress and facing right sides together, aligning the neckline edges, and stitch (stitch the neckline slit 0.1 – 0.2 cm from the edge). Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Attach the facing to the shoulder seams and to the zipper tape.
6. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the cuff edges and the step. Clip the seam allowance at the mark. Turn right side out and press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve. Fold the seam allowance of the inner side inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer side attachment.
7. Overlock the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
8. On the cuffs, make buttonholes and sew on buttons.

TIP: to prevent the edges of the front slit from separating, use a decorative fastener.
