Introducing a comfortable women's sewing pattern for a relaxed-fit knit dress, featuring a cozy hood, practical kangaroo pocket, and banded details.
This hooded knit dress offers warmth and casual style, making it an ideal choice for:
Silhouette: a relaxed, straight silhouette that drapes comfortably, finishing above the knee.
Neckline: Features an integrated hood, providing warmth and a casual, cowl-like detail at the front opening.
Sleeves: Long sleeves with a dropped shoulder, finished with wide, ribbed or banded cuffs.
Pockets: a large, functional kangaroo pocket is centrally placed on the front for convenience.
Back: a clean back panel with a central seam for shaping.
Hem: Finished with a wide, ribbed or banded hem to complete the casual look.
Intermediate. Requires experience working with knit fabrics, constructing a hood, and attaching a kangaroo pocket and bands.
Choose dense knit fabrics with a medium degree of stretch, made from natural or blended fibers:
No additional notions are required.
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for side edges of pocket – 2 cm, allowance along the outer edge of the hood – 2 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details).
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
