Asymmetric Draped Pencil Skirt

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: well-draping suiting fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 1 invisible zipper. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance - 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ALL MARKINGS ON THE PATTERNS ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE! Please note: in this model, the zipper is sewn into the right side seam.

CUTTER'S MUST

• From main fabric:
  • Back facing – 2 pieces
  • Upper back panel – 1 piece
  • Side skirt panel – 1 piece
  • Front facing – 2 pieces
  • Upper front panel - 1 piece
  • Lower front panel – 1 piece
  • Bow – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Back facing – 1 piece
  • Front facing - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the outer facings.
2. Stitch the dart on the back panel, press the dart allowance towards the center. Attach the outer back facing to the upper back panel, press seam allowances upwards.
3. Serge the bottom edge of the bow. Fold the allowance inwards and topstitch. Form a pleat on the bow. Place the bow on the side skirt panel and secure along the edges. Then treat as one piece.
4. Stitch the left side seam. Serge and press open the allowances.
5. Attach the upper front skirt panel to the front facing. Press the allowance towards the facing (a section of the facing remains unstitched). Serge the right side edges separately on each piece. Stitch the edge from the mark to the bottom edge. Press open the seam allowances, pressing the slit for the zipper. Insert the zipper.
6. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the skirt. Serge and press the allowances downwards. At the section where it attaches to the facing, press the allowance towards the facing.
7. Stitch the front bias edge. Press open and serge the allowances.
8. Stitch and press open the left side seam of the inner facings. Serge the bottom edge. Fold the facing with the skirt right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Fold the facings to the wrong side, press. Fold the side edges and sew to the zipper tape. Topstitch the inner facing into the seam of the upper attachment.
9. Serge the hem allowance. Press the allowances to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
