Cutter's Must
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance – 1.2 cm, allowance along the outer edge of the ruffle – 0 cm, other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).
- From main fabric:
- Back - 2 pieces
- Front - 2 pieces
- Placket – 4 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- Ruffle – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Placket – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- Fuse interfacing to the inner collar stand, plackets, and back neckline facing.
- Mark and stitch bust, waist, and shoulder darts on the front and back. Press bust darts upwards, and waist and shoulder darts towards the center of the pieces.
- Stitch the center back seam. Press seam allowances towards the left side seam and overlock.
- Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch ruffle pieces along the short edge, press allowances open, overlock. Overlock the outer edge of the ruffle with a thin rolled hem. Place the ruffle on the blouse wrong side to right side and secure along the placket edges and back neckline.
- Stitch shoulder seams of back neckline facings and plackets, press allowances open. Fold placket pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer edge. Clip allowances at curves, turn the piece right side out, smooth, and press.
- Attach the outer placket to the blouse, press allowances towards the placket. Fold the inner placket inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer placket attachment.
- Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
- Overlock buttonholes on the right placket. Sew buttons on the left placket.
