Discover a charming A-line dress pattern featuring a sleeveless silhouette, a playful front tie, and striking contrast side panels for a dynamic look.

When To Wear

This dress is designed for versatility and comfort, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Daytime Events & Gatherings: Its cheerful design and comfortable A-line silhouette make it perfect for brunches, garden parties, or casual social events.
  • Work & Business Casual: Pair with a light blazer or cardigan for a stylish yet professional office look.
  • Spring & Summer Occasions: The light fabric recommendations and sleeveless design are ideal for warmer weather and festive celebrations.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Sleeveless A-line dress, gently flaring from the high waist to an above-knee hem.

Neckline: Gentle scoop neck at both the front and back.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with clean, finished armholes.

Waist: Defined by a high waistline with an integrated self-fabric tie bow at the center front.

Front Detail: Features prominent contrast side panels that extend from the high waist down to the hem, creating a dynamic visual interest and playful flare.

Back: Clean, simple back with a central vertical seam and a scoop neckline.

Hem: Above-knee length with a slight A-line flare, enhanced by the contrasting panels.

Closure: No visible external closures; garment construction suggests an internally finished design, turned through an opening and hand-stitched closed.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires precise sewing for clean finishes on the neckline, armholes, and inserting the internal tie and contrasting panels with a fully finished interior.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Front - 1 piece on fold
    • Waistband — 2 pieces
  • Pieces from main fabric 2 are cut according to the top patterns.
  • From main fabric 2:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Front - 1 piece on fold
    • Waistband — 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch darts on front pieces. Trim depths, press allowances upwards. Cut a tie equal to bust circumference, 4 cm wide. Fold the tie in half lengthwise and press. Press edges to the center. Stitch the edges of the tie and cut into two equal parts.
  2. Place outer and inner front pieces right sides together, inserting the tie into the upper part of the side seam. Face the neckline, armholes, side edges, and bottom edge. Clip allowances on curves, trim corners, turn right side out through the shoulder seam and press.
  3. Fold waistbands in pairs right sides together and face along three sides. Trim allowances at corners and turn right side out.
  4. Place outer and inner back pieces right sides together and face the neckline and armholes. Trim allowances on curves. Align shoulder edges of front and back, inserting the front piece between the back pieces. Stitch shoulder edges.
  5. Face the flying panels, inserting the waistband. Face the bottom edge, leaving an opening. Turn the dress right side out through the opening. Hand-stitch the opening closed.
