CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    1. Upper BACK PANEL - QTY 2
    2. Lower BACK PANEL – QTY 2
    3. Upper center FRONT PANEL - QTY 1
    4. Upper side FRONT PANEL – QTY 2
    5. Lower FRONT PANEL - QTY 1 on fold
    6. COLLAR - QTY 1
  • From contrast fabric:
    1. Inner FRONT PANEL insert – QTY 2
    2. Outer FRONT PANEL insert – QTY 2
  • From FUSIBLE INTERFACING:
    1. COLLAR - QTY 1

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse the COLLAR piece with FUSIBLE INTERFACING.
  2. Stitch darts on upper BACK PANELs, press dart intake towards the center. Stitch upper and lower BACK PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCE upwards and serge. Serge the center edges of the BACK PANEL separately. Stitch the center edge of the BACK PANEL from the ZIPPER mark to the lower edge, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Insert the ZIPPER.
  3. Form and secure pleats on the outer FRONT PANEL inserts (pleat depths directed downwards). Fold the insert pieces right sides together and stitch the upper edge, clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves. Turn the pieces right side out, straighten and press. Overlap the right insert on the left, secure at the lower edge, and then treat as one piece.
  4. Fold the COLLAR piece lengthwise in half, right side in, and stitch the ends. Turn the COLLAR right side out, straighten, and press.
  5. Stitch the princess seams of the FRONT PANEL. Serge SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the center. Place the COLLAR with the FRONT PANEL and stitch, inserting the insert between the pieces. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, press and serge, topstitch onto the FRONT PANEL.
  6. Stitch the upper and lower FRONT PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
  7. Stitch the side seams, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL, serge.
  8. Cut (if not pre-made) BIAS BINDING 4 cm wide, length equal to armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the BIAS BINDING lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge on the right side and stitch, fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
  9. Serge the lower edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
