Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the corresponding pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the upper and lower BACK PANEL pieces. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center back. Stitch darts on the lower FRONT PANEL. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center.
  3. Fold and secure pleats on the upper center FRONT PANEL. Serge the lower edge of the decollete FACING. Place the decollete FACING and the upper center FRONT PANEL right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES, turn the FACING to the wrong side, straighten, press, and secure along the edges to the main piece.
  4. Attach the upper side FRONT PANEL to the center piece, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center and serge. Attach the FRONT PANEL insert to the upper part, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
  5. Stitch the side and shoulder SEAM ALLOWANCES of the upper part of the dress, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the back and serge.
  6. Stitch the side SEAM ALLOWANCES of the FLOUNCES, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open and serge. Serge the lower edge and center SEAM ALLOWANCES of the FRONT FLOUNCES. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the center FRONT FLOUNCE edges to the wrong side and topstitch.
  7. Stitch the side SEAM ALLOWANCES of the lower FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the back and serge. Place the FLOUNCES on the lower part of the dress and secure along the upper edge.
  8. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the dress. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
  9. On the left lower BACK PANEL, cut 5 cm along the vertical slit edge. On both lower BACK PANEL pieces, fuse the slit from the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (slit fold line). Press the left part along the slit fold line, and on the right part, press only the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the right side of the slit (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure along the upper edge of the slit. Serge the slit SEAM ALLOWANCES. Stitch the center edge of the BACK FLOUNCE from the mark to the bottom, clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at the mark, press open, serge at the bottom. Stitch the center edge of the BACK PANEL from the mark to the slit corner. Clip the corner of the slit SEAM ALLOWANCE on the right part. Press the center seam SEAM ALLOWANCES open, serge, aligning them with the raw edges of the FLOUNCE, press the slit SEAM ALLOWANCES and secure them on the right side with machine stitching. Insert the ZIPPER.
  10. Stitch the shoulder SEAM ALLOWANCES of the neckline FACINGS, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Serge the outer edges. Place the FACINGS on the upper part of the dress right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, trim at corners, turn to the right side and press. Secure the FACING to the ZIPPER tape and to the shoulder seams.
  11. Stitch the SLEEVE seam, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the back and serge. Set in the SLEEVES into the armholes, aligning the NOTCHES. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES and serge.
  12. Serge the lower edge of the dress and SLEEVE, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the lower FLOUNCE edge to the wrong side and topstitch.
