Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the darts on the Upper Back and Lower Back pieces, trim the dart allowances to 1 cm and press towards the center.
- Stitch the darts on the Upper Front, trim the dart allowances to 1 cm and press towards the center; press the lower darts towards the center as well. Lay the pleats on the Lower Front. If necessary, clip the area marked with a wavy line. Baste the pleats in place along the upper edge.
- On the Middle Back and Middle Front pieces, working from the wrong side, make 4 horizontal tucks spaced 2 cm apart. Tuck depth – 2 mm.
- Stitch the Upper Front and Lower Front to the Middle Front, and the Upper Back and Lower Back to the Middle Back. Press the seam allowances towards the middle pieces.
- Overlock the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the hem and press the seam allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
- Stitch the shoulder seams and press the seam allowances open. Stitch the side seams. On the skirt, overlock the seam allowances and press towards the back; on the bodice, press them open.
- Stitch the darts on the front and back lining and attach the Middle Front Lining and Middle Back Lining. Overlock the lower edge of the lining. Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the lining and press the seam allowances towards the back. Place the dress and the lining right sides together and stitch around the neckline. Cut along the center front slit line. Clip the seam allowances on the curves, turn the lining to the inside, ease out the edge and press. Baste the lining to the dress along the side and lower seam allowances. Attach the lining to the zipper tape. Tack the lining to the armhole seam allowances.
- Stitch the Sleeve seam. Overlock the seam allowance and press towards the back. Sew a line of long stitches (loosened upper thread) along the lower edge and gather. Stitch the Cuff into a ring. Fold the Cuff in half lengthwise and press. Stitch the outer half of the Cuff to the sleeve. Fold under the seam allowance of the inner half and topstitch it into the attachment seam. Set the sleeves into the armholes.
- Overlock the lower edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
