Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the waist darts on the upper and lower back panels. Press the dart excess towards the center of the pieces. Stitch the upper and lower back panels together. Press seam allowances downwards and serge.
- Serge the center back seam separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom. Press the seam allowances open, pressing the slit. Insert the zipper.
- Stitch the waist darts on the lower front. Press the dart excess towards the center of the piece.
- Fold the insert piece in half crosswise, right side out, and press.
- Form and secure the pleats on the upper front panels. Place the facings with the upper front panels and stitch the center edges. Fold the facings to the wrong side, place the front pieces on the insert, and secure along the outer edge of the facing. Serge the outer edge of the facing together with the insert.
- Stitch the upper and lower front panels together. Press seam allowances downwards and serge.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
- Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the facings. Press seam allowances open. Serge the center edges and the outer edge of the facing. Attach the facing to the main facing. Place the dress with the facing right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip the seam allowances at curves, turn the facing out, straighten, and press. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the back, then the front. Clip the seam allowances at curves, turn out, and press. Secure the facing to the garment along the side seam allowances. Attach the facing to the zipper tape.
- Serge the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
