Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also sew the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the Pocket Lining to the Center Front. Overlock the seam allowance, turn the lining to the wrong side, and press. Stitch the Side Front to the Center Front, stitching the pocket linings together at the same time. Overlock the seam allowance and press towards the center.
  2. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock the seam allowance and press to the left side.
  3. At the upper edge of the Center Front, form and baste two inverted pleats. Stitch the Front Yoke to the front, overlock the seam allowance and press upwards.
  4. Stitch the Back Yoke to the back. Overlock the seam allowance and press upwards.
  5. Stitch the side and shoulder seams. Overlock the seam allowances and press towards the back.
  6. Fold the Collar in half lengthwise, right sides together. Stitch one end of the collar. Stitch the other end of the collar up to the arrow notch. Clip the seam allowance at the mark. Trim the corners and turn the collar right side out. Stitch the collar into the neckline.
  7. Stitch the sleeve seam. Overlock the seam allowance and press towards the back. Set the Sleeve into the armhole, matching the notches. Overlock the seam allowance.
  8. Overlock the lower edges of the dress and the sleeves, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
  9. Spread the free end of the collar flat and sew on the decorative button.
