Cutter's Must
- From main fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Front – 1 piece
- Left Front – 1 piece
- Front Yoke – 4 pieces (2 upper, 2 lower)
- Back Yoke – 4 pieces (2 upper, 2 lower)
- From fusible interfacing:
- Front Yoke – 2 pieces (upper yokes)
- Back Yoke – 2 pieces (upper yokes)
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the upper Front Yoke and Back Yoke pieces.
- Stitch the waist darts on the back. Press the dart depths towards the center.
- Serge the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the hem and press the seam allowances open. Insert the invisible zipper. Serge the upper edge of the back, fold it to the inside and topstitch.
- Serge the upper and lower edges of the Left Front. Fold the upper edge to the inside and topstitch. Fold the pleat, matching the straight marks; press the pleat depth downwards.
- Serge the upper edge of the Front. Fold the seam allowance to the inside and topstitch. Fold the pleats on the Front, starting from the lowest one; press the pleat depths downwards. Lay the Front over the Left Front and baste them together along the side edges.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the upper yokes and press them open. Stitch the upper yokes to the front and back. Press the seam allowances towards the yokes.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the lower yokes (yoke facings) and press them open. Stitch the lower yokes to the upper yokes along the neckline, right sides together. Clip the seam allowances, turn the lower yokes to the wrong side and press. Stitch the armholes in two steps: first the front armhole, then the back armhole. Clip the seam allowances, turn and press. Stitch the side seams of the dress and the yokes in one continuous seam. Serge the seam allowances only on the main front and back. Fold under the seam allowances of the lower yokes and topstitch them in the ditch of the yoke seam.
- Serge the hem allowance, press it to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
