Two-Tone Panel Dress

Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a fitted dress featuring striking front and back vertical panels, a classic round neckline, and elegant three-quarter sleeves.

When To Wear

This versatile knit dress is perfect for a range of occasions, offering both comfort and sophisticated style:

  • Office & Business Casual: Its structured yet comfortable design makes it ideal for professional settings.
  • Evening & Cocktail Events: Elevate your look for dinners, parties, or special gatherings.
  • Versatile Day-to-Night Wear: Easily transitions from a polished daytime outfit to an elegant evening ensemble.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A fitted, knee-length sheath dress designed to contour the body.

Neckline: A classic round neckline for a timeless look.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length set-in sleeves, finished with a neat cuff band.

Front: Features distinct vertical panels (central and side), creating a flattering, body-contouring effect, ideal for two-tone fabric application. The central panel has a subtle, rounded seam detail at the bust.

Back: Defined by vertical panels (central and side) and a center back seam, contributing to the garment's fitted shape.

Hem: A straight hem finishes the knee-length silhouette.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires confident handling of knit fabrics, precise panel assembly, and neckline facing application.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-stretch knit fabrics that offer both comfort and structure, ideal for highlighting the garment's panel design:

  • Medium-stretch knit fabrics made from natural or blended fibers
  • Two different colors or patterns of knit fabric for a striking visual contrast

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: Medium-stretch knit fabric in two colors, made from natural or blended fibers.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2.0 cm. Other allowances – 0.7 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric 1:
    • Center back piece - 2 pieces
    • Center front piece – 1 piece on fold
    • Sleeve - 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 2:
    • Side back piece - 2 pieces
    • Side front piece – 2 pieces
    • Facing — 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Note: Knit fabric pieces in this model are stitched on a straight stitch machine. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity.
