A stylish women's sewing pattern for a knit jacket featuring a soft draped front, a flattering self-tie waist, and a chic peplum-style hem that creates a dynamic silhouette.
This versatile knit jacket offers elegance and comfort, making it an excellent choice for:
Silhouette: a flattering silhouette, gently fitted at the natural waist with a self-tie belt, flaring into a soft peplum hem.
Neckline: An open V-neckline transitions smoothly into the front facings, creating a soft drape when the jacket is tied.
Closure: a functional front self-fabric belt cinches the waist front front, allowing for adjustable fit and customizable styling.
Sleeves: Long, set-in two-piece sleeves provide a classic and comfortable fit with subtle shaping.
Back: Features vertical princess seams on the back, offering subtle shaping and a tailored structure.
Hem: a distinctive peplum-style hem with a longer, cascading drape at the front and a slightly shorter line at the back.
Intermediate. This pattern involves working with knit fabrics, constructing a self-tie belt, setting two-piece sleeves, and precise application of facings.
Choose knit fabrics with a moderate weight and stretch for optimal drape and structure:
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for garment bottom and sleeve bottom – 2 cm; other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Note: Knit fabric pieces in this model are stitched on a straight stitch machine. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity.
