Fabric recommendations: dense knit fabric with low to medium stretch. Also needed: fusible interfacing.
CUTTER'S MUST
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance for garment bottom and sleeve bottom – 2 cm; other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Center back part - 2 pieces
- Side back part - 2 pieces
- Front - 2 pieces
- Upper sleeve part – 2 pieces
- Lower sleeve part – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Front facing – 2 pieces
- Belt – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Front facing – 2 pieces
Note: Knit fabric pieces in this model are stitched on a straight stitch machine. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity.
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the front facings and back neckline facing.
- Stitch the back princess seams. Press seams towards the center back seam, overcast. Stitch the center back seam. Press seam to the left side, overcast.
- Fold the belt pieces in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long and short sides. Trim seam allowances at the corners, turn the belt right side out, press.
- Stitch shoulder and side seams, inserting the belt pieces according to markings. Press seams towards the back and overcast.
- Stitch front facings and neckline facing, press seams open. Overcast the outer edge. Place front facings with neckline facing onto the garment, right sides together, and stitch the front edge and back neckline. Stitch the bottom corner precisely along the marked hemline. Trim seam allowances at corners, clip curves. Turn front facing with neckline facing to the wrong side and press. Topstitch the front along the markings, securing it to the front facing.
- Stitch the elbow and front seams of the sleeve. Press seam allowances and overcast. Set in sleeves. Press seam allowances and overcast.
- Overcast the bottom edge of the garment and sleeve hem. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
