Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper; 2 buttons. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details).

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back part - 2 pieces
    • Side back part - 2 pieces
    • Center front part right - 1 piece
    • Center front part left - 1 piece
    • Side front part - 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Right front facing – 1 piece
    • Left front facing – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Right front facing – 1 piece
    • Left front facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! Markings on patterns are made on the right side!

  1. Interface pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the back princess seams, press allowances towards the center, serge.
  3. Serge the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom edge, press allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  4. Serge the outer edge of the left center front part. Attach the left center front part to the side part. Clip allowances at the bottom mark, serge, press towards the center in the upper part, and towards the side edge in the lower part. Topstitch along the fold at 0.1 cm. Stitch the right front princess seam, press allowances towards the center, serge.
  5. Serge the outer edge of the left front facing. Fold the facing with the front right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and secure it to the main piece at the shoulder and bottom edges. Topstitch at 0.1 cm along the neckline.
  6. Serge the outer edge of the right front facing. Fold the facing with the front right sides together and stitch the neckline and front edge. Clip allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and secure it to the main piece at the shoulder and bottom edges. Topstitch at 0.1 cm along the neckline and front edge.
  7. Overlap the right front over the left, aligning the center lines. Attach the left front to the inner side of the right front facing between the marks, press allowances. Topstitch the right front onto the left from the neckline to the bottom mark.
  8. Serge the outer edge of the back neckline facings. Fold the facing with the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Start or end the stitching precisely at the marked shoulder seam line. Clip allowances at curves.
  9. Stitch the shoulder seams, inserting the front between the back and the back facing, press allowances towards the back and serge. Turn the facings to the wrong side and press. Secure to the zipper tape.
  10. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise with the right side out and press. Fold the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  11. Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  12. Serge the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  13. Sew decorative buttons on the right front according to markings.
