Important Information

Before starting, print the paper pattern pieces and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width may range from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine the required amount of material. Do not forget to consider paired and symmetrical pieces.

When sewing, pay attention to the notches — they must match.

Note: Markings on the pattern pieces are made on the right side.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the required pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the princess seams joining the Center Back and Side Back pieces. Press the seam allowances toward the center and overlock.
  3. Overlock the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the hem. Press the seam allowances open and insert the invisible zipper.
  4. Overlock the outer (front) edge of the Center Left Front. Stitch the Center Left Front to the Side Front. Clip the seam allowances at the lower mark, overlock, and press: toward the center above the mark and toward the side seam below it. Topstitch along the fold at 0.1 cm. Stitch the princess seam joining the Center Right Front and Side Front, press the seam allowances toward the center, and overlock.
  5. Overlock the outer edge of the Left Center Front Facing. Place the facing and the left front right sides together and stitch along the neckline. Clip the seam allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side, and baste it to the dress along the shoulder and lower edges. Topstitch along the neckline at 0.1 cm.
  6. Overlock the outer edge of the Right Center Front Facing. Place the facing and the right front right sides together and stitch along the neckline and front edge. Clip the seam allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side, and baste it to the dress along the shoulder and lower edges. Topstitch along the neckline and front edge at 0.1 cm.
  7. Lap the right front over the left front, matching the center lines. Stitch the left front to the inner side of the Right Center Front Facing between the marks and press the seam allowances. Topstitch the right front onto the left front from the neckline to the lower mark.
  8. Overlock the outer edges of the Back Facings. Place the facings and the dress right sides together and stitch along the neckline. Start and finish the stitching exactly at the marked shoulder seam line. Clip the seam allowances along the curves.
  9. Stitch the shoulder seams, placing the front between the back and the Back Facing. Press the seam allowances toward the back and overlock. Turn the facings to the wrong side and press. Secure them to the zipper tape.
  10. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias strip 4 cm wide and as long as the armhole plus 5 cm. Fold the strip lengthwise with the right side out and press. Place it along the armhole edge on the right side and stitch. Clip the seam allowances, turn the binding to the wrong side, and topstitch along the fold onto the dress. Press the seam.
  11. Stitch the side seams. Press the seam allowances toward the back and overlock.
  12. Overlock the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
  13. Sew the decorative buttons on the right front at the markings.
