Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: thin dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper; elastic tape 1 cm wide.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for dress bottom and sleeve bottom – 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper back part - 2 pieces
    • Lower back part - 2 pieces
    • Front bodice - 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Fuse interfacing to the pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the upper back part, press depths towards the center. Stitch the upper and lower back parts, press allowances upwards and overcast.
  3. Overcast the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  4. Slash the front bodice between the horizontal sides of the dart, trim allowances to 0.5 cm. Stitch darts on the front bodice pieces, press depths away from the center.
  5. Stitch the center front seam, press allowances to the left side, overcast.
  6. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back and overcast.
  7. Stitch shoulder seams of back and front neckline facings, press allowances open. Overcast the outer edge. Place facings and garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge of the back and front. Clip allowances at curves, turn facing to the wrong side, straighten, press. Secure to the garment at shoulder seams and zipper tape.
  8. Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and overcast. Overcast the sleeve hem allowance, fold to the wrong side and topstitch, forming a casing. Thread elastic tape through the casing, adjust length and stitch ends.
  9. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press allowances and overcast.
  10. Overcast the dress hem allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
