Balloon-Sleeve Blouse with Fitted Midriff

Introducing a women's blouse pattern designed with a gracefully scooped neckline, a flattering fitted midriff, and voluminous balloon sleeves gathered with elastic for a chic silhouette.

When To Wear

This stylish blouse is perfect for adding a touch of elegance to various occasions, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Everyday Chic: For an elevated casual look suitable for daytime outings, brunches, or relaxed gatherings.
  • Smart Casual Events: Perfect for garden parties, cultural events, or semi-formal daytime occasions where a stylish top is desired.
  • Dinner & Evening Out: Pair with a sophisticated skirt or trousers for a fashionable evening ensemble.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted at the bodice and waist, transitioning into voluminous, gathered sleeves for a balanced and chic profile.

Neckline: Wide, gentle scoop neckline offering a flattering frame for the décolletage.

Closure: Invisible zipper neatly set into the center back seam for a smooth finish.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length balloon sleeves with a gathered sleeve cap, a line of elastic stitched across the sleeve and an elasticated hem casing, creating two soft puffs.

Waist: a horizontal seam below the bust joins the upper bodice to a fitted lower panel that accentuates the waistline.

Back: Upper and lower back joined by a horizontal seam, with a center back seam housing the invisible zipper.

Hem: Straight hem, designed to hit at the waist or just below, offering a versatile length.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Involves techniques such as darts, invisible zipper insertion, constructing a faced neckline, and gathering fabric for voluminous sleeves.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers with enough body to hold the sleeve shape, such as:

  • Cotton poplin
  • Linen blends
  • Shirting fabrics
  • Viscose twill or challis (for a softer drape)

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • Invisible zipper
  • Elastic tape, 1 cm (3/8") wide

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, the patterns include seam allowances; if the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment and sleeve hem – 2.0 cm; other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First of all, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
