Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: jacket fabrics made of natural or blended fibers in contrasting or related colors. YOU ALSO NEED: lining fabric; separable zipper; decorative cord; 2 cord stoppers; 2 cord ends, 2 eyelets; elastic tape. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric 1 :
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Casing - 1 piece
  • From main fabric 2 :
    • Back Yoke – 1 piece
    • Front Yoke – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve Insert – 2 pieces
    • Front Facing – 2 pieces
    • Back Neck Facing – 1 piece
  • From lining fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Attention! Lining fabric pieces are cut taking into account the yokes and sleeve insert. And subtracting the width of the front facing and back neck facing.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch back yoke to back. Press seam allowance upwards.
  2. Stitch front yoke to front. Press seam allowance upwards.
  3. Stitch sleeve insert to sleeve, clipping seam allowance at the corner. Press seam allowance towards the insert.
  4. Stitch shoulder and side seams. Press seam allowances open.
  5. Install eyelets on the front. Place the casing on the wrong side of the front and back and stitch along the marked lines.
  6. Stitch sleeve seam. Press seam allowances open. Set sleeves into armholes, press seam allowances.
  7. Stitch shoulder edges of front facings and neck facing. Press seam allowances open.
  8. Place front facing on the right side of the front, right side down, and stitch along the edge, inserting the zipper, simultaneously stitching the neckline. Clip neckline seam allowances, turn front facing to the wrong side and press.
  9. On the lining fabric pieces, stitch seams, leaving an opening in the left side seam.
  10. Stitch lining to front facings and neck facing. Stitch the bottom edge and sleeve bottom edge with lining. Turn the windbreaker right side out through the opening. Press the stitched seams. Thread decorative cord and attach cord stoppers and cord ends. Stitch a line along the bottom of the sleeve, forming a casing. Thread elastic tape into the casing, adjust length and secure ends. Sew up the technical opening.
  11. Stitch a securing line along the zipper 1.5 – 2 cm from the edge.
