Tech. Description

Sleeveless Top Eyelet Lace Trim

Introducing a versatile sleeveless top sewing pattern featuring a distinctive central panel crafted from eyelet fabric, joined to the side fronts by vertical lace trim inserts.

When To Wear

This top offers a blend of casual comfort and refined detail, making it perfect for:

  • Warm Weather Outings: Ideal for sunny days, offering breathability and style.
  • Casual Gatherings: Easily dressed up or down for lunches, garden parties, or relaxed events.
  • Layered Ensembles: Pairs well under light jackets or cardigans for transitional seasons.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a relaxed-fit, straight-cut sleeveless top.

Neckline: Round neckline finished with bias binding turned to the inside.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with armholes neatly finished with bias binding.

Front: Features a central front panel, ideal for eyelet or embroidered fabric, joined to the side front panels by 3.5 cm lace trim inserted between them (the panels are topstitched to either edge of the lace).

Back: a simple, plain back cut on the fold for a clean finish.

Hem: Straight hemline, falling to the hip.

Closure: Pull-on style, with no visible fastenings.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires accurate bias binding application for the neckline & armholes, and precise topstitching for the decorative lace trim.

Fabric Recommendations

For the main body, choose light to medium-weight blouse fabrics with good drape. The central panel is designed for eyelet fabric.

  • Cotton blouse fabrics from natural or blended fibers
  • Eyelet fabric (for the central front panel)

Additional Supplies

  • Lace trim (3.5 cm wide)
  • Bias binding (can be self-made or purchased)

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, then the patterns include seam allowances. If the contour is single, then the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance – 2 cm. Other allowances - 1.0 cm. Attention! First of all, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need.

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Side front – 2 pieces
  • From eyelet fabric:
    • Center front – 1 piece on fold
  • Lace Trim Template – 1 piece (paper template for cutting the lace trim to length)

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  1. Overlock the panel seam edges of the Side Front and Center Front pieces. Topstitch the lace trim onto the Center Front, aligning one long edge of the trim with the marked panel seam line. Topstitch the Side Front onto the other long edge of the trim, aligning it with the marked panel seam line of the Side Front.
  2. Stitch the right shoulder seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  3. Cut a bias strip 4 cm wide and as long as the neckline + 4 cm. Fold it in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Place the binding along the neckline on the right side, leaving tails at the ends, and stitch. Clip the allowances, turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along its fold. Press.
  4. Stitch the left shoulder seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  5. Cut (unless using ready-made) a bias strip 4 cm wide and as long as the armhole + 4 cm. Fold it in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Place the binding along the armhole on the right side and stitch; turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along its fold.
  6. Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
