Sleeveless Pleated Wrap Top

Introducing a chic women's sewing pattern for a sleeveless wrap top, featuring elegant shoulder pleats and a fixed, flattering wrap front.

When To Wear

This versatile top offers a blend of sophistication and comfort, suitable for:

  • Casual Chic Outings: Perfect for brunch, casual gatherings, or day trips when paired with relaxed bottoms.
  • Office & Professional Settings: A stylish choice for the workplace, especially under a blazer or worn with smart trousers.
  • Warm Weather Elegance: Its sleeveless design and breathable fabric recommendations make it ideal for warmer seasons or resort wear.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A semi-fitted, sleeveless silhouette with a straight hem, designed for comfortable drape.

Neckline: Features a distinguished stand collar that transitions into a sophisticated V-neck wrap front.

Wrap Closure: A fixed wrap front, where the right panel gracefully overlaps the left and is secured into the side seam, ensuring confident wear without gapping.

Shoulder Detail: Elegant pleats at each shoulder add subtle volume and a touch of refined texture to the front bodice.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with clean-finished armholes, bound with bias tape for a smooth, comfortable edge.

Back: A clean, uncluttered back with a high neckline complementing the stand collar.

Hem: A neat, straight hem finished with a double-fold for a polished look.

Length: Hip-length for versatile styling.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in forming pleats, constructing a stand collar, attaching bias binding to armholes, and securing a fixed wrap front.

Fabric Recommendations

Achieve the best drape and comfort with soft, lightweight blouse fabrics:

  • Soft blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers (e.g., linen blends, cotton batiste, rayon challis, Tencel twill).

Additional Supplies

  • Bias tape, 4 cm wide (length equal to armhole length + 4 cm, if not pre-made)

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: soft blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fold and stitch 2-3 cm pleats on the shoulder edges of the front (depths directed towards the neckline).
  2. Stitch the center seam of the collar, folding the collar pieces right sides together, press seam allowances open. Press the collar lengthwise in half, right side out.
  3. Stitch the shoulder edges, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  4. Set the collar into the neckline of the back and front, press seam allowances towards the main piece, serge and topstitch. At the side edge, fold the collar in half outwards and secure it to the side edge. Overlap the right front over the left and secure along the bottom and side edges.
  5. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 4cm. Fold the bias binding lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip seam allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  6. Stitch the side edges, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  7. Press the bottom edge of the garment to the wrong side twice by 1 cm and topstitch.
