Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: thin suiting fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; lining fabric; concealed zipper; decorative buckle. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES; IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: All seams 1 cm. Hem allowance - 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Upper back part – 2 pieces
  • Lower back part – 2 pieces
  • Lower front part – 2 pieces
  • Upper front part – 2 pieces
  • Front facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Belt – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
• From lining fabric:

  Note: lining pieces are cut by subtracting the width of the front facing and back neckline facing.

  • Upper back part – 2 pieces
  • Lower back part – 2 pieces
  • Lower front part – 2 pieces
  • Upper front part – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the corresponding pieces and the allowances of the bottom edges of the garment.
2. Stitch shoulder and waist darts on the upper back parts, press the dart depths towards the center. Stitch the upper and lower back parts, press allowances upwards. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the zipper mark and from the zipper mark to the bottom. Press seams open. Insert the concealed zipper.
3. Form a pleat on the upper front part. Secure the base of the pleat with a machine stitch for 2-3 cm. Direct the depth downwards and secure it to the lower and center edges. Stitch the upper and lower front parts from the side seam strictly to the marked line for attaching the front facing, clip and press allowances open.
4. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press allowances open.
5. Stitch and press open the shoulder edges of the back neckline facing and front facings. Place the front facings and facing with the garment right sides together, and stitch the neckline and front edges strictly to the upper mark. Clip the allowance at the mark. Clip allowances at curves. Turn the front edges to the right side, straighten seams, press. Stitch the front edges from the mark to the seam attaching the lower part, press allowances open. Stitch the front facings from mark to mark of the lower part attachment seam. Press allowances open. Stitch the lower parts of the front edge and the center edge. Trim allowances, straighten seams and press.
6. Stitch lining seams. Stitch the center back edge from the zipper mark to the bottom. Attach the lining to the front facings and facing. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the front armhole, then the back armhole. Attach the lining to the bottom of the garment. Secure the lining to the zipper tape.
7. Fold the belt piece in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch along the long side and one short side. Trim allowances, turn right side out and press. Thread the buckle onto the belt from the unstitched side and secure.
