Pattern #2519
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: suiting fabric made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interlining; lining fabric; buckle; 1 inner button. Hem allowance for the vest bottom 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Fuse interlining to the designated pieces.
  2. Fold the large belt piece in half right sides together and stitch one short and one long edge. Trim seam allowances, turn right side out, and press.
  3. Fold the small belt piece lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch along the long edge. Turn the belt right side out and press. Attach the buckle to the belt.
  4. Stitch the back princess seams. Press seam allowances open. Stitch the center back seam, press seam allowances open.
  5. Stitch the front princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center.
  6. Stitch and press open the side seams of the vest, inserting the small belt into the left seam.
  7. On the lining pieces, stitch the seams, leaving an opening in the left side seam. Attach the lining to the inner edges of the front facings. Work a buttonhole on the right front facing.
  8. Place the belt on the right front edge, aligning raw edges, and secure. Place the front facings and front piece right sides together and stitch the armhole, upper back edge, front edge, neckline, and lower corner, stopping 1.5 cm before the front facing edge. Trim seam allowances at corners, clip curves. Turn the garment right side out, straighten seams, and press. Turn the allowances of the left collar to the wrong side, insert the right collar into the left, and stitch.
  9. Press the bottom edge of the garment to the wrong side. Attach the lining to the bottom of the garment. Turn the vest through the opening. Close the opening.
