Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. Fabric for trim in contrasting or related colors. YOU ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing, 3 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Placket – 4 pieces
    • Sleeve - 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Back yoke – 1 piece on fold
    • Front yoke – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Placket – 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the back yoke to the back, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Stitch the front yoke to the front, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
  3. Fold the placket pieces right sides together and stitch the outer edge, turn right side out, straighten, and press. Stitch the plackets to the right side of the front, stopping 1 cm from the bottom. Clip the front seam allowance at the corners, stopping 1 mm from the stitching. Tuck the ends of the plackets inwards, overlapping the right placket over the left, and stitch, securing the bottom edge. Overcast the seam allowances.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back, and overcast.
  5. Fold the neckline facing pieces right sides together and stitch the outer edge. Clip the seam allowances, turn the facing right side out, straighten, and press. Stitch the outer side of the facing to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the facing. Fold under the seam allowance of the inner side of the facing and topstitch into the seam of the outer side.
  6. Stitch the sleeve to the garment, press seam allowances towards the sleeve and overcast.
  7. Stitch the side seam simultaneously with the sleeve seam, press seam allowances and overcast.
  8. Stitch the cuff into a loop, press seam allowances open. Fold the cuff lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Stitch the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold under the seam allowance of the inner side of the cuff and topstitch into the seam of the outer cuff.
  9. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  10. Sew on buttons, securing the plackets together.
