CUTTER'S MUST

From main fabric:

  • Back - 1 piece on fold
  • Front - 1 piece on fold
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece
  • Front neckline facing — 1 piece

From fusible interfacing:

  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece
  • Front neckline facing — 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Form and stitch the pleats on the front piece, pressing the pleat depths towards the center.
  3. Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  4. Stitch the shoulder edges of the inner facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place facings and garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances, turn facing to the wrong side. Secure facing at the shoulder seams.
  5. Serge the lower edge of the sleeve. Fold allowance inwards and topstitch. Topstitch decorative trim along the bottom of the sleeve. Along the sleeve cap between the marks, stitch with a loosely tensioned upper thread and gather. Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and serge.
  6. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the lower part of the armhole + 6 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Turn the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  7. Serge the lower edge of the blouse. Fold allowance inwards and topstitch.
