Lining pieces are cut according to the main fabric pieces, subtracting the width of the back neckline facing.
- From lining fabric:
- Center back – 2 pieces
- Side back – 2 pieces
- Side front – 2 pieces
- Lining for center front – 2 pieces
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Cuff – 2 pieces
From fusible interfacing: center front, front facing, back neckline facing.
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces. Apply an additional fusible stay tape along the back neckline edge.
- Place the flying front pieces right sides together and stitch the outer and lower edges. Trim seam allowances at the corner and turn right side out. Press the piece. Lay the flying piece onto the center front and secure along the princess seam and shoulder edges.
- Stitch the princess seam on the front. Press seam allowances towards the side seam.
- Stitch and press open the princess seams on the back. Stitch the center back seam. Press seam allowance open.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the jacket. Press seam allowances open. Stitch the side seams of the jacket. Press seam allowances open.
- Stitch the sleeve seam. Press seam allowances open. Stitch the cuff into a loop, press seam allowances open. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise and attach to the bottom of the sleeve.
- Set the sleeves into the armholes according to the notches, easing the sleeve cap at the top. Attach shoulder pads.
- Stitch and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and front facing. Stitch the lining pieces similarly to the main fabric pieces, leaving an opening in the left elbow seam of the sleeve. Attach the lining to the neckline facing and front facing.
- Place the jacket and lining right sides together, pin, aligning the outer edges. Stitch the lining along the front opening and neckline. Attach the lining to the bottom of the jacket. Attach the lining to the bottom of the sleeve. Turn the jacket right side out through the opening. Close the technical opening.
- Secure the flying front with invisible stitches from the wrong side.
- Attach a snap fastener to the front.
