Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: HEAVY SATIN. Also needed: ZIPPER 20 CM long; LINING FABRIC; FUSIBLE INTERFACING; HEAVY ORGANZA.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Seam allowance for the center back seam of the skirt panel (FOR ZIPPER INSERTION) - 2 cm. Other seams - 1 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width should be at least 140 cm) to determine how much material you will need.

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match! Try to observe the GRAIN LINE direction.

ZIPPER in the center back seam of the skirt panel.
The bottom of the skirt is FINISHED WITH A CLEAN EDGE using heavy ORGANZA (see photo). The ORGANZA piece for the bottom edge is first trimmed 1 cm shorter than the SATIN skirt piece. Then both SATIN and ORGANZA pieces are stitched along the bottom edge and turned right side out. All skirt pieces are processed individually along their bottom edges in this manner.
Then all vertical seams of the skirt pieces are first overlocked (ORGANZA and SATIN together as one layer). Then all skirt pieces are stitched together, and these seams are pressed open (see photo). The corners of the seams at the bottom of the skirt are folded inwards and secured with blind stitches.
The FACING, interfaced with FUSIBLE INTERFACING, is stitched onto the skirt LINING, and then the top edge of the skirt is finished.
