Sewing Instructions
- Welt pockets. Fuse fusible interfacing to the welt, fold it in half lengthwise, and press. Fuse fusible interfacing to the pocket placement area. Mark a line on the welt to define its finished width. Stitch the small pocket bag to the inner side of the welt. Place the welt with the pocket bag onto the right side of the front, aligning the pocket marking line with the line on the welt. The outer side of the welt should align with the right side of the front. Stitch the welt. Stitch the large pocket bag to the upper pocket marking line. Cut the pocket opening in the middle between the marking lines, making diagonal cuts towards the pocket marking corners. Turn the pocket pieces to the wrong side. Smooth out and press the seam allowances. Stitch the pocket bag edges, securing the pocket corners. The pocket bag edges should be included in the zipper insertion seam and the belt attachment seam.
- Assembling the outer shell. Stitch the shoulder seams. Topstitch the shoulder seam along the back. Stitch the side seams.
- Lining. Stitch the vest lining.
- Belt. Secure the elastic tape in the belt by making 2 decorative stitches. Stitch the belt TABs to the belt. Stitch the belt to the vest. Secure the belt TABs from the wrong side to the front lining.
- Zipper closure. Place one half of the zipper with the garment edge right sides together (teeth facing away from the edge). Finish the edges with the lining, simultaneously inserting the zipper. Finish the collar and insert it into the neckline. Stitch the lining to the belt.
- Turn the vest to the right side through the armhole and stitch the lining to the armhole.
- Topstitch the edges and the collar of the vest.
- Press the finished vest.
