Sewing Instructions
- Pockets in the seam. Finish one side of the front placket. Turn right side out, press, and topstitch. Attach pocket bags to the front side. Place the front placket onto the front center (right sides together), then place the pocket bag and stitch along the pocket opening with one seam. Attach the front side PANELs to the front CENTERs, simultaneously inserting the front placket and stitching the pocket bags. Topstitch the seam. Make bar tacks at the pocket opening.
- Assembly of the upper garment. Attach the side PANELs to the back. Topstitch the attachment seams. Attach the yoke to the back and front PANELs. Topstitch. Attach the sleeve lower PARTs to the sleeve CENTERs. Topstitch. Stitch the shoulder seams. Topstitch the shoulder seam on the back. Set the sleeves into the open armholes. Topstitch the sleeve attachment seams at the armhole. Stitch the side seams and sleeve seams. Attach the upper collar to the neckline.
- Inner pocket. Fuse fusible interfacing to the welt, fold in half lengthwise, and press. Mark a line on the welt indicating the finished welt width. Stitch the small pocket bag to the wrong side. Place the welt with the pocket bag onto the right side of the front lining, aligning the pocket marking line with the line on the welt. The outer side of the welt should align with the right side of the lining. Attach the welt. Attach the large pocket bag to the upper pocket marking line. Cut the pocket opening in the middle between the marking lines, making diagonal cuts to the corners of the pocket marking. The other side of the pocket goes into the front facing attachment seam. Turn the pocket pieces to the wrong side. Press out and press the seam allowances. Stitch the pocket bag edges, securing the pocket corner on one side.
- Lining. Attach the front facing to the front lining. Stitch the jacket lining. Attach the lower collar to the lining neckline.
- Cuffs. Secure elastic tape in the cuff and make decorative topstitching. Fuse fusible interfacing to the tab and cuff placket. Stitch Velcro tape onto the tab and cuff placket according to markings. Finish the tab. Finish the cuff with the cuff placket, inserting the tab into the seam. Attach the cuffs to the sleeves, catching the edge of the elastic in the seam.
- Zipper fastening. Fold one half of the zipper with the garment edge, right sides together (teeth facing away from the edge). Finish the edges of the garment and collar with the lining, simultaneously inserting the zipper. Turn the garment right side out.
- Attach the lining to the cuffs.
- Press up the hem allowance, first folding 1cm, then 3.5cm. Topstitch the bottom of the garment.
- Topstitch the garment edges and collar.
- Stitch Velcro hook-and-loop tape to the wrong side of the wind guard placket. Finish the wind guard placket, turn right side out, press, and topstitch along the contour. Stitch onto the left front according to markings. Stitch Velcro onto the right front.
- Press the finished jacket.
