Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
Sewing Instructions
- On the front side, from the lower notch to the shoulder seam, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. The gathering amount is indicated on the pattern pieces. Attach the front side PANELs to the front insert. Serge the seam and press towards the center.
- On the back side, from the lower notch to the shoulder seam, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. The gathering amount is indicated on the pattern pieces. Attach the back side PANELs to the back insert. Serge the seam and press towards the center.
- Stitch the side and shoulder edges of the back and front. Serge the seams and press towards the back.
- Fold the lower pieces right sides together and stitch into a ring along the short sides. Fold the trim strip in half lengthwise, right side out, and press.
- Along the lower edge of the back and front, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Equalize the length of the lower edge of the back and front with the edge of the trim strip. Attach the trim strip, serge the seams, and press upwards.
- Serge, fold, and topstitch the neckline and armhole edges.
