Neckline: A wide, gathered scoop neckline that drapes softly.

Sleeves: Short, integrated cap sleeves offering ease of movement and a casual aesthetic.

Hem: A deep, fitted hem band designed to create the blouson effect and hold the top in place.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Involves working with stretch knit fabrics, gathering techniques, and attaching a fitted hem band.

Fabric Recommendations

Achieve the desired drape and comfort by selecting knit fabrics with good stretch and recovery:

  • Medium to low stretch knit fabrics, such as jersey, rayon, or modal blends, preferably with good drape

Additional Supplies

  • Knit tape or bias binding, 4 cm wide (length specified on pattern piece)

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
  • BACK PANEL – 1 QTY on fold
  • FRONT PANEL – 1 QTY on fold
  • LOWER TRIM STRIP – 2 QTY

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the right shoulder seam of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Serge the seam and press towards the BACK PANEL.
  2. Along the neckline edge, sew a basting stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. The gathering amount is indicated on the pattern pieces. Finish the neckline with BIAS BINDING. Stitch the left shoulder seam. Serge the seam and press towards the BACK PANEL.
  3. On the side seam, clip the SEAM ALLOWANCE near the NOTCHES. Stitch the side seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL from the NOTCHES to the bottom. Serge the seams and press towards the BACK PANEL.
  4. Fold the LOWER TRIM STRIP pieces right sides together and stitch into a loop along the short sides. Fold the TRIM STRIP in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Along the side edges of the TRIM STRIP, sew a basting stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather to 16-18 cm.
  5. Along the bottom edge of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL, sew a basting stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Equalize the length of the bottom edge of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL with the TRIM STRIP edge. Attach the TRIM STRIP, serge the seams, and press upwards.
  6. Serge the armhole edge, fold under, and topstitch.
