Sleeveless Collared Button-Front Blouse with Pleats

A sheer, elegant blouse pattern featuring a sophisticated stand collar, a neatly pleated button-front placket, and a sleeveless design for a refined silhouette.

When To Wear

This versatile blouse is perfect for adding a touch of refined elegance to various occasions:

  • Professional Settings: Ideal for a smart office look when layered, or as a standalone top in a creative professional environment.
  • Dressy Casual & Evening: Its sheer fabric and delicate pleats make it suitable for sophisticated casual outings or evening events.
  • Warm Weather Layering: A chic option for layering under jackets or cardigans, or wearing solo during warmer seasons.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A relaxed, slightly flared silhouette that drapes gracefully from the bust.

Neckline & Collar: Features a chic, self-standing collar that offers a refined and modern appeal.

Closure: A neat button-front placket runs down the center, secured with seven buttons.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with armholes finished with bias binding for a clean, comfortable edge.

Front Detail: The front is adorned with symmetrical vertical pleats (pintucks) framing the button placket, adding texture and elegance.

Back: A simple and unadorned back panel complements the intricate front detailing.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. This pattern requires skills in constructing a stand collar, creating neat pleats, working with button plackets, and finishing armholes with bias binding.

Fabric Recommendations

For best results, choose light, fluid fabrics that drape well and highlight the garment's delicate features:

  • Thin, transparent fabrics made from natural or blended fibers (e.g., chiffon, voile, organza, georgette)

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 7 buttons

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    1. BACK PANEL – 1 QTY
    2. FRONT PANEL - 2 QTY
    3. COLLAR stand – 2 QTY
  • FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING: integrated placket, upper COLLAR stand.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the integrated plackets of the FRONT PANELS and the upper COLLAR stand.
  2. Place COLLAR stand pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer edge, starting and ending the seam precisely at the COLLAR stand attachment line. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, turn the COLLAR stand right side out, and press.
  3. Form and press the pleats on the FRONT PANEL according to the markings. Note: the pleat depths are directed towards the front edge, and the folds towards the side seam. Press the integrated placket twice to the wrong side and topstitch 0.1 cm from the inner fold.
  4. Stitch the shoulder SEAM ALLOWANCES of the blouse. Press seams towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  5. Attach the outer COLLAR stand to the neckline, fold under the open edge of the inner COLLAR stand, and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  6. Cut a BIAS BINDING from the main fabric, 4.5 – 5.0 cm wide and equal to the armhole length. Press the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, align with the right side of the armhole, and stitch. Fold the BIAS BINDING to the wrong side and topstitch onto the FRONT PANEL 0.1 cm from the fold.
  7. Stitch the side SEAM ALLOWANCES of the blouse. Press seams towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  8. Press the hem of the garment to the wrong side, fold under, and topstitch.
  9. On the right FRONT PANEL, make buttonholes; on the left FRONT PANEL, sew on buttons.
