Sewing Instructions

  1. Reinforce back, front, and side FACINGS with FUSIBLE INTERFACING. (Heat-activated interfacings are pressed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron).
  2. On the FRONT SKIRT HALF and BACK SKIRT HALF and on the LINING piece, stitch darts and press them towards the center.
  3. Finish the bottom edge of the BACK PANEL LINING. Place the FRONT PANEL with the BACK PANEL LINING, stitch the right side SEAM and the left side SEAM up to the ZIPPER mark.
  4. Insert the ZIPPER.
  5. Finish the bottom edge of the FRONT PANEL. Press the side SEAM ALLOWANCES to the front and secure by hand.
  6. Place the BACK PANEL from the main fabric with the side FACING of the BACK PANEL and stitch the side edges, integrated tabs, and the top edge up to the side darts. Clip the top edge of the BACK PANEL near the darts.
  7. Place the BACK PANEL from the main fabric wrong side onto the right side of the LINING and baste the top edges, not catching the left side ZIPPER SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  8. Stitch the right side SEAM of the FACINGS and pin it to the top edge of the skirt. Near the closure, fold back the ends of the FACINGS, stopping 5 mm from the closure on each side. Fold the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the closure to the right side and pin over the FACING. Stitch the top edge. Fold the FACING and the closure SEAM ALLOWANCE to the wrong side and secure by hand.
  9. Finish the bottom edge of the BACK PANEL.
  10. Topstitch along the upper edge of the FRONT PANEL, along the BACK PANEL along the side edges and the edges of the tabs up to the darts, and along the upper edge of the BACK PANEL.
  11. On the right tab, make buttonholes; on the left, sew on buttons.
