Fabric Recommendations

Choose suiting fabrics that offer good drape and hold their shape for a refined look:

  • Suiting fabrics (e.g., wool blends, gabardine, linen blends, tweed)

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 1 zipper
  • 1 button

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Right Front Skirt Half - 1 qty
  • 2. Left Front Skirt Half - 1 qty
  • 3. Back Skirt Half - 2 qty
  • 4. Waistband - 1 qty
  • From fusible interfacing: reinforce waistband with fusible interfacing.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Embroidery: Cut the right front skirt half with slightly larger seam allowances. Using transfer paper, transfer the embroidery design onto the fabric and complete it. Place the pattern piece on the embroidered fabric and refine the cut.
  2. Reinforce the waistband with fusible interfacing. (Fusible interfacings are pressed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron).
  3. Stitch the center back seam between the slit markings. Press the edges of the slits.
  4. Stitch the zipper under the edges of the upper slit so that the teeth are not visible.
  5. Stitch the darts.
  6. Stitch the front princess seam up to the slit marking. Finish the edges of the slit separately and press.
  7. Stitch the side seams.
  8. Fold the waistband right sides together with the upper edge of the skirt and stitch, leaving an extension for the fastener on the right back edge of the waistband. Finish the ends of the waistband. Turn under the inner edges of the waistband and topstitch from the right side into the attachment seam. On the left end of the waistband, make a buttonhole; on the right, sew on a button.
  9. Hem the skirt. Stitch the slit allowances to the bottom hem.
