Minerva Digital Pattern 2019
Introducing a digital pattern for the striking asymmetrical coat – Bold Lines and Architectural Elegance.
WHEN TO WEAR DESIGN 2019
Some coats are made to blend in—this isn’t one of them. This coat is designed to make an impact while remaining versatile enough for different settings:
- Crisp Midseason Mornings: Layer it over fitted trousers or a midi skirt for a modern daytime look.
- Evening Events & Special Occasions: Its dramatic collar and asymmetry make it perfect for cocktail events, gallery openings, or evening dinners.
- Chic Office Looks: A sophisticated alternative to a standard trench coat—ideal for creative industries or business-casual environments.
KEY DESIGN FEATURES
Silhouette: Slightly fitted with clean structured lines.
Collar: Oversized, asymmetrical collar extending over the shoulder for a sculptural effect.
Closure: Off-center single-button closure
Construction Lines: Shaped front seams and back panel seams for a clean, tailored fit.
Sleeves: Long set-in sleeves with big flared cuffs.
Hemline: Angular hemline that adds architectural interest and sharp definition.
Style: A modern, structured coat that combines sharp tailoring with sculptural elegance.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
This pattern has a high difficulty level and requires advanced sewing skills.
SEAM ALLOWANCES
No seam allowances by default. If an option to add them at $1 is chosen, all seams are 1 cm.
Please note: a single contour on the pattern pieces means no seam allowances are included. A double contour indicates seam allowances are included.
FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DIGITAL PATTERN 2019
Works best with medium-weight fabrics like:
- Crepe as the main fabric to achieve structure and fluid drape.
- Satin (matching the crepe) for the contrasting details and lining.
- Medium-weight fabrics such as wool, cashmere blends, heavy crepe, or textured jacquards can also be used to enhance the architectural shape.
According to the designer’s concept, the lining should be made from satin and precisely follow the contour of the outer pattern pieces to maintain a clean, professional finish.
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES
- Fusible Interfacing: To reinforce all upper garment pieces.
- Closure: 1 statement button.
