Reasoning

Why Custom-Fit Patterns

Patterns are not finished garments or works of art on their own; they are an essential step in the garment production process. The more accurate the patterns, the less effort is required to adjust and fit the garment, leaving more time for other important stages such as finishing and refining the fit, ultimately resulting in higher-quality garments.

Statistically, a ready-made pattern from popular magazines will fit only about 2% of people perfectly. To achieve the ideal fit, it is usually necessary to adjust the pattern or the nearly finished garment to suit individual body shapes. While fitting can be done after cutting, it is faster and easier to account for body features at the pattern creation stage. Therefore, individualized patterns are preferable.

On our website, you can select a design you love, enter your six key measurements, and receive a custom-made pattern via email. Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?

Quick Guide

How It Works

You select a design and enter the measurements: Height, Bust, Under Bust, Waist, Low Hip and High Hip. Custom sizing is available from a Bust of 35 cm to 170 cm and Low Hip of 35 cm to 190 cm. The system receives your order, reads the design number and measurements. Additional parameters, such as, for example, Center Back Waist Length or Across Back Shoulder Width, are automatically calculated based on these measurements. Next, the system determines your body type. Each design has its own specific drafting method. Using this method and the provided measurements, the patterns are drafted accordingly.

Step 1: Choose a Pattern
Step 2: Enter 6 Measurements
Step 3: Submit & Complete the Order
Feasibility

How Can a Pattern be Drafted with Only 6 Measurements?

Obviously, the system needs many more measurements of your body. As mentioned, six measurements are required to determine your body type. Using these, an additional 80 measurements are calculated at the backend. The process of drafting uses all these measurements to create your custom-fit pattern. However, individual figure characteristics such as, for example, posture, shoulder slope, etc. are not considered. So, if your body differs from the conventional type, these variations will not be reflected in the pattern.

Fit

How Do the Garments Made by Your Patterns Fit?

The assessment of garment fit is quite subjective. With the same measurements, one person may prefer loose clothing, while another prefers a more fitted style. Evaluating women’s designs is even more complex—everyone has different tastes. The fit of a garment made with our patterns reflects the opinion of the designer who developed the methodology for that specific model. It is their personal view of the design being created, and in this sense, the designer is similar to an artist. Not everyone may agree with the designer’s opinion, but creating a methodology that would please everyone is impossible.

To accommodate individual preferences, our patterns are intentionally created with adaptability in mind. This flexibility allows you to make adjustments according to your own style and comfort preferences. For instance, minor tweaks to seam allowances or changes in ease can transform the garment from a close fit to a looser, more relaxed silhouette. We encourage each user to view the pattern as a foundation, ready to be personalized and refined according to their unique style. This approach ensures that while the initial design reflects the creator’s vision, the final product can be shaped to truly represent the wearer’s taste.

Wisdom

Can I Just Go Ahead & Cut the Fabric By Your Patterns?

Before cutting, it’s important to follow the old tailoring principle “Measure Seven Times, Cut Once”. One must account for ease allowances, fabric properties, and the intended design. Our patterns help you achieve a good fit, but the method of automatic remote pattern generation cannot guarantee a perfect result 100% of the time. After a few orders, you will gain an understanding of how well the patterns correspond to the specific features of the figure. And if you are familiar with 3D fashion design software/CAD, then it’s a good practice to create a 3D mockup before cutting the fabric.
