Description

Minerva Men’s Sewing Pattern 6005 – Casual Wool Jacket with Central Button Closure, Yoke & Welt Pockets

Introducing a men’s sewing pattern for the structured button-front jacket – Utility Heritage Meets Tailored Precision.

WHEN TO WEAR DESIGN 6005

A sharp outer layer with understated strength, this jacket blends traditional structure with practical design:

  • Transitional Weather: Layer it over a turtleneck or shirt for effortless autumn and spring looks.
  • Smart-Casual Workdays: Perfect balance between formality and ruggedness—ideal for studio environments or casual office settings.
  • Weekend Getaways: Pair it with denim or corduroy for relaxed, outdoor-ready style with vintage workwear roots.

KEY DESIGN FEATURES

Silhouette: Straight, boxy fit with a slightly cropped profile and generous ease.

Collar: Classic shirt collar—sharp, masculine, and timeless.

Closure: Center front button fastening with four buttons for structured finish.

Construction Lines: Distinct back yoke and topstitched shoulder lines for clean separation and visual interest.

Pockets: Two angled welt pockets at the front with facings and internal bags.

Sleeves: Two-piece long sleeves with clean shaping and precise sleeve head construction.

Hemline: Straight hem for a polished, structured edge.

Style: Workwear-inspired with refined detailing—offering the practicality of utility with a sharp tailored cut.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

Intermediate. Best suited for sewists familiar with welt pocket construction, structured collars, and multi-piece sleeves.

SEAM ALLOWANCES

No seam allowances by default. If an option to add them at 1 EUR is chosen, pattern will come with seam allowances included.

Please note: a single contour on the pattern pieces means no seam allowances are included. A double contour indicates seam allowances are included.

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MEN’S SEWING PATTERN PATTERN 6005

Choose structured outerwear fabrics that hold form well:

  • Wool or wool-blend coating (plain or plaid)
  • Medium-weight melton
  • Wool twill or textured suiting
  • Brushed cotton or cotton-blend canvas
  • Tonal lining fabric for inner structure

Avoid drapey or lightweight materials, which may distort the silhouette.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES

  • Fusible Interfacing
  • Buttons: 4 medium-sized (25 mm) buttons for front closure

Optional: Underlining for added insulation in colder climates.

Dear all,

I live and work in Switzerland, which is in the Central European Time Zone. If you're outside of Europe, there may be a slight delay in acknowledging and processing your order due to the time difference. However, please don’t worry—I will do my best to process it as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,
Anna
