Minerva Sewing Pattern 4070
Introducing the sculpted mock-neck top with princess seams and curved hem – Streamlined Comfort with a Sculptural Edge.
WHEN TO WEAR DESIGN 4070
This versatile knit top adds elevated simplicity to everyday looks. Its body-following silhouette and sculptural details make it suitable for a range of settings:
- Creative Workspaces or Smart-Casual Days: A refined base layer with structure and personality. Wear tucked into trousers or midi skirts.
- Weekend City Walks or Gallery Visits: Layer with a lightweight jacket or coat for an artfully nonchalant look.
- Relaxed Evening Drinks: A sleek knit top that pairs well with bold accessories or statement bottoms.
KEY DESIGN FEATURES
Silhouette: Slim, body-skimming silhouette with curved princess seams for shaping.
Neckline: Sculpted mock neck for clean minimalism.
Sleeves: Long sleeves with a shaped fit.
Hemline: Rounded hem that elongates the torso and adds visual movement.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Beginner-Intermediate. Ideal for those comfortable working with stretch fabrics and seeking to refine sewing techniques on knits. Sizing note: during recent test fitting on standard US sizes in Clo3d, it was observed that the garment fits slightly smaller than expected. I now recommend choosing one size up if you are selecting a pre-set ASTM size.
SEAM ALLOWANCES
No seam allowances by default. If an option to add them at 1 EUR is chosen, all seams are 0.8 cm. Hem allowance for body and sleeve – 1.5 cm
Please note:
- A single contour on the pattern pieces means no seam allowances are included.
- A double contour indicates seam allowances are included.
FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SEWING PATTERN 4070
Designed for medium to high stretch knits made from natural or blended fibers:
- Cotton or viscose jersey
- Stretch rib knits or modal blends
- Ponte or stretch pique with soft hand
Avoid overly lightweight knits with poor recovery.
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES
- Optional fusible tape or clear elastic to stabilize shoulder seams

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Before cutting your fabric:
- Print out the paper patterns and lay them out according to your fabric width (90 cm to 150 cm) to calculate how much fabric you’ll need.
- Don’t forget to account for mirrored and symmetrical pieces.
- Pay attention to notches – they ensure alignment and proper shaping.
SEWING TIP FOR KNIT FABRICS
Use a narrow zigzag stitch or stretch stitch to allow for movement. Hem with a double needle or coverstitch machine to retain elasticity.
