ABOUT THE MACBEAN TARTAN
The MacBean (MacBain) clan is known for courage and independence, a legacy captured in its striking tartan.
Registered in the Scottish Register of Tartans, the design combines bold reds, deep greens, and sharp blues that reflect centuries of Highland pride.
The clan motto, “Touch not a cat but a targe,” evokes the wildcat’s fearless spirit and the protective targe (shield) carried by their ancestors. History remembers Gillies MacBean’s legendary last stand at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, where he fought with unmatched determination.
By bringing this authentic sett into a seamless digital fabric, Minerva invites designers to honor that heritage while exploring new realms of virtual fashion and 3D garment visualization.
